Antique Liverpool Large Creamware Farmer's Arms Pitcher Jug circa 1770
Offered for sale is this rare Liverpool transfer-decorated creamware Farmer's Arms jug, which dates to circa 1770. It is decorated with a village scene of a harvest dance on one side, the Farmer's Arms and some flowers on the other, and a dedication under the spout. The jug was neatly potted and turned, and has a plain loop handle. No maker's mark.
The Liverpool jug is 9 1/2 inches tall by 8 1/2 inches from spout to handle.
Condition: Very good save for the outer surface of the spout, which has a professional repair, as shown. The repair is hard to see under normal light but it shows under black light. There is a small flake to one side of the handle, and a small firing crack where the top of the handle joins the body, as shown. Also a couple of tiny glaze flakes on the interior of the rim, as shown. Minor surface wear on the transfer decoration. All minor, included for completeness. Please view the detail photos.
