Antique Ribbed Cranberry Glass Blown Hanging Lamp Electrified
Fine hand blown ribbed cranberry glass candle lamp with brass fittings. Old 'dry' glass, fire polished edges, rings when tapped. No maker's mark (not that you would expect one). Late 19th Century. The dual chain-and-pulley system lets you pull down the base part to change the candle. The lamp has been converted to electricity; the candleholder and hanging pull has been removed, and a hanging wire and socket introduced through the top. A hooked ceiling fixture is included. The split wires have been attached to a lamp cord and plug, which allowed me to test the socket; it works. Note: the hooked ceiling fixture only looks crooked because I attached it to the bar using picture wire.
The complete lamp is 19 inches tall from the ceiling fixture to the base of the light. The cranberry glass shade measures 7 1/2 inches tall by 8 inches wide. The base opening is 4 1/8 inches across. It weighs approximately 2 lbs (shipping weight 3 lbs)
Condition: Very good condition. No chips, cracks or scratches-- but the usual bubbles and tool marks of early blown glass.
