Pair Spode Antique Boy on Buffalo Blue Transfer Staffordshire Plates c 1810
Fine pair of antique Staffordshire blue transfer pearlware plates 9 7/8 inches wide by Spode in the "Boy on Buffalo" Chinoiserie pattern. Circa 1810. This popular pattern, taken originally from 18th century China Export, was made by several companies. These plates are recognizable as Spode by their fine quality, the details of the pattern, and by the plate shape, known as "New Indented", which was introduced circa 1809.
Excellent condition overall. One small open bubble without glaze on the rim, as shown, done in manufacture. Both plates have one small chip on the reverse rim, one glazed (meaning done in manufacture), one small one not glazed. No crazing of the glaze, which is unusual for 200 year old pearlware. Please view the detail photos.
The plates weighs 1 lb 14 oz (shipping weight 3 lbs).
