Large Antique Blown & Cut Glass Bowl 2 Piece Compote 2 Bases 19th Century

  • $150.00

For sale is this blown and cut large two piece footed compote from the first half of the 19th century. The color is clear flint glass with a grayish/yellowish tint. Beautiful bell tone when tapped. It is fan-cut with a cross cut band and a scalloped rim. Circa 1840 - 1860. This auction includes one bowl with a pair of bases/holders, which can also be used as pillar candlesticks, since they will take a 3 inch diameter pillar candle.

The large bowl is 10 inches wide by 3 3/4 inches tall. It has a 3 inch wide boss on the base which fits into the holder of the base, which is cut and polished to match. The bowl + two bases weighs 6 lbs 6 oz (shipping weight 11 lbs). This is a good bowl for the center bowl of an epergne, always a hard thing to find.
Condition: Fairly good condition, no cracks or scratches but small flakes on the rims of both the bowl and the bases, as shown. No base wear thanks to the felt base protectors. Please view the closeup photos.
